Career counseling in the classroom - one more required course with no big expectations. But the man speaking German without an accent does not even begin to try and sell the students on a possible career as electrician or beautician. Instead they hear phrases like: "The camorra takes care of their people. With us, nobody is left behind.» Unemployment, poverty and a sense of abandonment by the government, helped organized crime to grow big in Naples. In Germany's east the initial situation is equally favorable. The career counselor tells his own history, soberly and in detail.

About his father who wanted to escape the system of his hometown, but was not even able to protect his own son from it. About success, money, recognition. And then: unintended complicity in a person's death...

Dream Jobs, written without an air of moral superiority, is a play about taking what seems to be the easy path and the responsibility we eventually have to take for ourselves.

World premiere
26.02.2009 Theater der Altmark Stendal (Director: Eva Lange)

Translations
Catalonian: Una feina ideal
